Under the Standards segment of the curriculum, INSTALL teaches skills that are common throughout the floor covering trade, such as floor prep, understanding pattern matches and general tools. The Standard Skills also include several classes provided by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, such as forklift, ergonomics and OSHA 10-hour.

• Each lesson consists of four components, including the lesson, instructor manuals, student manuals and testing.

Lesson Highlight: Jobsite Check Procedures
Because INSTALL apprentices are the future journeymen and foremen of the industry, attention is given to teaching awareness and responsibilities of these positions. In the Jobsite Check Procedures lesson, apprentices are taught about the different tools and equipment that may be needed to set up a job prior to start up. The lesson is designed in a common sense approach to address:
• Supplies
• Storage
• Staging
• Heating
• Site parking
• Delivery schedules
• Safety
