Install Alliance
INSTALL is a comprehensive training program for residential, commercial, and institutional floor covering installers throughout the United States and Canada.
INSTALL’s curriculum is delivered via classroom and hands-on training over four years, focusing on carpet, linoleum, vinyl and other resilients, hardwood, laminate, ceramic tile, stone, and artificial turf and sports surfaces.
A 12-member International Labor-Management Committee for the Floor Covering Industry, representing more than 400 years of experience, steers the INSTALL program. Labor representatives are members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. INSTALL constantly teams with leading mills and manufacturers to make sure that what is being taught reflects current labor needs in the floor covering industry.
INSTALL craftsmen are confident, proud of their training and professionalism and take pride in their work. They are trained to maximize productivity so that contractors remain profitable and competitive in the industry.
Mission
INSTALL’s mission is to ensure the continued health and prosperity of the North American floorcovering industry, to demonstrate commitment to quality installations, and to enhance the industry’s reputation.
Focus
INSTALL focuses on meeting the needs of contractors and specifiers as each group functions within the floor covering industry. In these alliances, we seek both to learn the needs and desires of these important industry players, as well as to teach what it is we do every day to enhance the level of technical floor covering installation skills. We believe this comprehensive outreach demonstrates, firsthand, our full commitment to quality installations.
Craftsmen
More than 13,000 UBC floorcovering professionals are working in the United States and Canada—and that number will grow as INSTALL apprentices complete their training. INSTALL professionals can efficiently install any kind of floor, in any configuration, for residential, commercial, and institutional settings. Work is done right the first time, which saves time and money for the contractor, and preserves the integrity of the specification for the project manager.
Alliance
All mills and manufacturers in the floor covering industry are invited to join the INSTALL alliance. INSTALL partners participate in ongoing curriculum reviews by designating technical and/or educational representatives to work with INSTALL instructors to revise and refine the INSTALL curriculum. This ensures that future floor covering professionals are trained according to the needs of today’s marketplace.
This partnership further ensures that INSTALL professionals are equipped with the skills that are necessary to install floor covering products properly and efficiently, because industry leaders are partnering in the instruction process.
